5 Ways to Freshen Up Your Hairstyle for Summer

CNKX126N9M

It may not seem like it now, but full-blown summer weather will be upon us in just a couple short months, which means lots of humidity (i.e. frizz) and lost battles between your hairbrush and succumbing to the boring ponytail.

But that doesn’t have to be true!

Read on for our 5 ways to freshen up your style for summer:

1.) Cut Out The Weight

Easy, breezy hair is what we picture when we think summer. Of course, we know girls with voluminous manes might be thinking their hair is anything but easy or breezy, but you would be surprised how having your stylist take off some of the weight can transform your tresses.

There are a few methods stylists use to remove weight and some are better for specific hair types than others, this article by Stylecaster on how to “Summerize Your Haircut Without Losing Length” gives some great explanations of those methods.

2.) Add Some Babylights

Perfectly sunkissed, subtle, but transforming, babylights are an ideal way to brighten up the face get your locks looking like you’ve already hit the beach on a weekend getaway.

If you’re wondering, “what’s the difference between babylights and highlights?” babylights are softer and more subtle, although, prepare for the same process as getting highlights. The effects may be simple, but it is time-consuming. But the big bonus is that baby lights are extremely low maintenance, so get them before the summer and you’re set!

3.) Embrace Your Natural Texture

We’re all about embracing your natural texture year-round, but there’s just something about summer that makes us think it’s the perfect time to experiment with going au natural when it comes to styling.

Maybe it’s the carefree, “summertime when the livin’s easy” kind of feelings, perhaps it’s just that we know fighting your natural texture can be an uphill battle during the summer. No matter the reason, we challenge you to take drastic measures and hide the blow dryer/curling wand/straightening iron for a week and get back to basics.

4.) Find a New Style

Kind of a given right? Freshen up your style by finding a new one!

What we really mean is rather than resorting to your standard hair-thrown-in-a-ponytail, try some new day-to-day styles. Sure, it might take an extra 5-10 minutes in the morning, but we guarantee you’ll get a self-confidence boost by trying something new and fresh.

5.) Switch Up Your Products
